Block paving sealing

Most of the enquiries we receive are for block paving cleaning and sealing. To ensure a professional finish every time, this is usually done in stages as detailed below -

Stage 1: To kill off any weeds, algae or moss present sometimes its necessary to treat the surface of the block paving with weedkiller and fungicidal wash. For the best results this is usually done 5-7 days beforehand.

Stage 2: The block paving is pressure cleaned with a rotary headed cleaner and then the joints are cleaned using a high powered lance. This will remove any weeds, algae, lichen, moss and dirt that may built up over the years. If any oil, grease or tyre stains are present, they should be treated and removed at this time.

Stage 3: On another day after the block paving has dried off, kiln dried sand is swept between the joints to stabilise the pavers and prevent movement.

Stage 4: To guarantee the best protecction for the block paving we then spray block paving sealer onto the surface and into the joints. The kiln dried sand will harden like cement over a few days which will help restrict future weed growth.

*For best results, we spray two coats of Smartseal block paving sealers onto block paving.
